Driven by the commitment to the holistic development of the Pardhi community, the Vivekananda Chhatrawas has now earned significant recognition. Starting with just five Pardhi students in a rented room, the hostel has grown into a fully equipped facility that can accommodate 100 students.
In the reporting year, 43 Pardhi students from 12 bedas (hamlets) and 7 students from farmer families affected by suicides from 6 villages were admitted to the hostel. All 50 students appeared for their respective exams and successfully passed in first and second class. Four volunteer teachers provided additional coaching in Mathematics, Science, and English. Health check-up of the students was done four times in the year. A team of doctors from the Ayurvedic College, Yavatmal also examined the students’ health. All eight students who appeared for the 10th class examination passed. Sumit Ravindra Pawar scored marks with first-class honors.
To date, more than 650 children have been benefited from the hostel’s facilities and completed their education. Educated and cultured children returning to their bedas (hamlets) have brought about significant changes in thinking and behavior of family members & village community impacting positively. Many of these children are now exploring new paths in mainstream livelihoods.
During the year, the Chhatrawas was visited by Dr. Shilpa Reddy, President of the BJP Mahila Morcha, Telangana, Smt. Vrinda Ghosalkar from the USA, and Shri. Hemant Joshi from USA, who interacted with the students.
During the reporting year, various events such as Parents’ Meet, Independence Day, Republic Day, Raksha Bandhan, Bhau Beej, Holi, Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Jayanti, and Ganeshotsav were celebrated, with a view to acquainting the students with national festivals and personalities.
The Parents’ Meet at Vivekananda Chhatrawas was presided over by Dr. Pawan Bansod, Superintendent of Police, Yavatmal District, with Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, a renowned social worker from Chikhli, Buldhana, as the chief guest. During this event, the students presented patriotic songs, skits, and dance performances. The parents of the students and distinguished citizens of Yavatmal were in audience.
During the reporting year, students Arjun Vararkar (class 10th) and Abhay Chavhan (class 10th) participated in the divisional Kho-Kho competition, while Shubham Chavhan (class 10th) and Sagar Barekar (class 10th) took part in the district-level Throw Ball competition.
During the year, activities such as making Ganesh idols, making lamps and herbal powders were organized for the students. These initiatives aimed to develop a professional outlook among the students, providing them with knowledge and experience in various business activities.
