Goat Demonstration Units

Under World Bank assisted Maharashtra Competitive Agricultural Development Project, the DDSP has successfully implemented the project of high value-added business - demonstration of goats project in Yavatmal district in the year 2013.   

This project was implemented in 6 talukas of Yavatmal district. In this project, farmers having who have at least 20 goats, their own farming and irrigation system. Such beneficiaries were selected.

The project covered fodder cultivation, feeding practices, marketing. 250 beneficiaries successfully established goat farms and successfully adapted these practices. There was perceptible improvement in weigh of the animals and realization of higher prices with access to better markets. The rate of taking goats to the forest for grazing decreased. Mrs. Helen Madam, LDO of World Bank, visited the project and commended the DDSP for highly successful project implementation. Ex- post evaluation of the project by Price Waterhouse observed sustainance of the units even after 3-4 years. They highly appreciated role of DDSP in successful implementation of the project. World Bank awarded DDSP with certificate of successful implementation of the project.
