Project aims at empowering rural women through nutrition and self-reliance. Through our continuous engagement with rural women under our Swayamsiddha Project, we have identified a critical issue affecting rural women - poor nutrition, which leads to various health complications.
To address this, we have launched the Organic Kitchen Garden Project, aimed at improving the health of women and their families while fostering economic independence through supplementary income generatinion. Rural women are encouraged to grow organic vegetables in the courtyard of their homes for their daily consumption and generate additional income by selling surplus produce.
In many Indian households, women often prioritize their families' needs over their own, consuming whatever remains after feeding others. As a result, a large number of women, particularly from low- income families, suffer from anemia and deficiencies in calcium, hemoglobin, vitamins, proteins, and essential minerals. Limited affordability of nutritious food further exacerbates the problem. Recognizing this challenge, our organization took the initiative to promote kitchen gardening among these women as a sustainable solution.
Through the Organic Kitchen Garden Project, we are not just promoting better nutrition but also creating pathways for economic empowerment, ensuring a healthier and more self-sufficient future for rural women and their families.
